Custom Subdomains & SRV Records
Tired of copying and pasting long numbers? A subdomain lets your mates connect to your server using a memorable, customised name (like play.myserver.com) instead of a clunky numerical IP address.
How to Create a Subdomain
- Select your server and head over to the Settings tab.
- Find the Subdomain section.
- Type in your chosen name in the text box.
- Hit save. Our system will sort the DNS records out automatically.
SRV Records
For games that support it (like Minecraft), our setup automatically spawns an SRV Record alongside your subdomain.
- What it does: An SRV record tells the game client exactly which port to connect to.
- The pay-off: Your mates can join using just the subdomain (e.g.,
play.myserver.com) without having to type that annoying port number (e.g.,:25565) at the end!
⚠️ Platform Restrictions
To keep our network running like a dream and prevent domain abuse, we have a couple of rules:
- Cooldown Limit: You can only update your subdomain once every 24 hours.
- Free Trials: Subdomain customisation is locked for Free Trial servers.
Connecting
Once it's saved, players can jump in using the new address. Usually it's instant, but global DNS propagation can take up to 30 minutes in some regions to get fully sorted.
